Mortal enemies romances are always intriguing. There are so many built in conflicts even before the story begins. Why are they mortal enemies? Ine is a Wolf shifter and one ia a Hunter of supernatural beings. How do they meet? At work. What are their reactions to each other? A very strong mutual attraction. How do others react to the vibes they get when they look at or are near each other? Since they met at work how do their respective work colleagues feel about their partnership? How do the Wolf pack members feel about Liam being paired up with not only a Human, but a Hunter - whose job it's been to kill Wolves? How does Lios' Hunter friends feel about him being partnered up the very "animals" they hunt? One can just imagine it's not all smiles and handshakes.The villains are out to start a lot of trouble for shifters. THere are still many Humans who are angry with the Big Reveal of the existence of shifters. They want them wiped out of existence. They do not want the "dirty" shifters mixing with Humans. Their violent methods prove dangerous to all. I liked this story, though initially it was a bit confusing with all the people introduced. then the main characters had similar names Lios, the Hunter and Liam, the Wolf shifter. but otherwise it was really fast paced and action packed. If you enjoy possible mates, simmering sexual tension, exhibitionism, and a mysterious villain this story may very well be for you. I am tempted enough to read the next book in the series, HUNTER'S DATE.

I like Sunny Day's books and have quite a few. And this story had the potential to be a bit of a ground breaker in the genre with some very interesting ideas. But the reality is that words were missing (just little ones like 'a' and 'the') but what that did was make you trip over clunky sentences and take you away from the story. I almost think there is a bit of English as a second language happening for some mistakes, but Sunny's other books aren't indicative of that. So the lack of editing has put this book down from a 4 star effort to barely 3 stars - but the trouble is I like the idea of the story so am very disappointed in the execution.
Shifters are known about and Lycan-Human Initiative has been set up for Shifter crime. Previously a group of law enforcement, known at the Hunters, undertook to hunt down crime committing rogues - the headquarters of that now defunct secret group is now the home of the Initiative. LIam is a cop who the Council has placed in the new Initiative alongside an ex-Hunter named Lio.
There is instant attraction (in other books we would be aware they are mates) and their work partnership and private attraction mean they are working well together. The local Alphas are not all on board with this new way of doing things so Liam is pulled by the Council, the Alphas, the Initiative and Lio - but handles the conflicting reporting lines and loyalty issues well. Lio and Liam become closer and Lio saves Liam from Green Silver, which causes murderous rage coupled with increased strength in shifters. There is a plot to get Liam and blow the whole initiative to dust. While there is no cure, there seems to be a containment effect that Lio not only knows about but uses when Liam is exposed.
Two problems I had at the outset were the two L's - Liam and Lio. In a couple of places, it go worser the further into the book I read, I had to go back to work out which we were actually talking about because they seemed to be interchangeable in places (but the writing style was the cause there). The second issue is the name of the Captain, Hunter. So the book talks about Hunter (Captain) and the Hunters (the group) and again, sometimes you have to go back to work out if it is the Captain or a Hunter.
So disappointing because it could have been really good. More editing should mean this book is more enjoyable instead of frustratingly clunky.
